How many of us actually fulfill our resolutions? Oftentimes, we just write down a list of places where we want to go or activities that we want to do, without following through. There isn’t an “action” plan to the list of goals, that is why it somehow leads to a “maybe, next year.”

Let’s admit it, saving up for something is quite challenging. But now that it’s 2017, we truly believe that you can achieve your travel goals if you have the courage and commitment to pursue it. No more excuses! Here are 5 ways to save more for your travels this year.

1. Set your mind on a budget

Before traveling to your dream destination, you need to ask yourself, “How much am I willing to spend?” It can be overwhelming to set a price, but believe me, this will actually encourage you to save! Once you condition your mind that you will set aside a part of your sweldo for budget, it will be easier for you to reach your goals!

Airscape Tip: Find exciting ways to save! We’re currently doing the 52 weeks money challenge, which focuses on saving in peso increments weekly. For example, you decide to set aside 20 pesos in your first week. The next week, you double that amount, putting away 40 pesos.

2. Track down your list of expenses

Tracking your expenses is a great way to find out how much you’re spending on a daily basis. Once you do this religiously, you get to understand where your hard work goes to. Plus, when traveling this trick is very essential! Recording your expenses will help you be more responsible and resourceful.

3. Try to sell some items that you don’t really need

They say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and it’s totally true! If you’ve got loads of books that you don’t read anymore or clothes that you barely use, sell them! You can easily earn money with this trick. Who knows? Maybe the money that you earn here can be spent for your next out of the country trip!

4. Encourage your buddies to save

Since you want your barkada to join you on your trip, you need to encourage them to save, too! Tell them the reasons why you’re saving and how a bit of sacrifice can go a long way. You can even have your own piggy banks so you can remind each other to save money for your next getaway.

5. Learn to prioritize

What are your priorities? If you really want to travel this year, then you must be willing to prioritize your travel fund, even if it means less shopping trips or expensive coffee dates. Remember: you’re going to experience a once in a lifetime event, so you better picture your destination in your mind so it will be easier for you to save.
