Congratulations, you’re finally traveling to the next destination on your #travelbucketlist! But aside from making sure that your tours and hotel accommodations are all set, you need to remember about another necessary thing…your carry-on luggage.

Oftentimes, we overlook our carry-on because we’re too excited to spend time on our trip. However, you need to remember these simple reminders to avoid any travel boo-boos or mistakes:

1. Always check the limits of your carry-on

Before you head to the airport, you have to make sure that your luggage size and weight is allowed for carry-on. I’ve seen a lot of people overlook this simple detail, so they end up paying more! So to avoid this mishap, make sure you weigh your carry-on and check its size. Usually, for airbus flights, airlines allow 7-10kg of carry-on, with a dimension of 56cm x 36cm x 23cm. But you have to check with your airline if they have a specific limit.

2. Limit your liquids

Don’t expect to bring your own bottled water to the plane! Usually, you’re allowed to bring at least 100ml on your carry-on. If you need to bring more, consider placing it in your check-in baggage so you won’t have any hassle in leaving precious lotions, or makeup essentials at the airport.

According to the Manila International Airport Security, it is advisable to place the liquids in any transparent re-sealable bag to avoid spills.

3. Know the cost of an extra bag

If you are traveling with a lot of items but on a budget, check with your airline to determine the cost for a second bag. Also ask if you will be charged for overweight luggage so you are aware of how much it will cost you, and it won’t affect your travel budget.

4. Weigh the luggage itself

Sometimes, it’s the luggage itself that’s heavy, since the wheels and handle add at least 2 or 3 pounds to your bag. Before going on your trip, make sure you scout for heavy-duty but lightweight luggages so you don’t have to worry about exceeding the limit on the plane.

5. Only pack the essentials

Use your carry-on wisely! Yes, it’s a #struggle to pack smart, but it will also be more convenient for you if you only bring what you need so you get to maximize the space in your carry-one.

6. Keep it safe

Although your carry-on is with you all the time, it’s still safe to use a smart lock to keep your valuables sealed while you’re in transit. If you have a number lock, make sure that you remember to add the code in your phone or wallet just in case your forget the combination.

And, that’s it for now! If you have any other carry-on tips, let us know. We would love to hear from you :) Visit our Facebook page here for more travel inspirations and features.
